Dr. Kaitlyn Fitzpatrick is a Certified Psychology Resident and Postdoctoral Fellow who provides psychological testing and therapy in Salt Lake City for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She has a particular interest in helping clients find clarity around difficulty with attention, learning, social, emotional, and personality-related concerns, especially when questions about ADHD, autism, or both are part of the picture.
Dr. Fitzpatrick takes a thoughtful, individualized approach to psychological assessment. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all testing process, she tailors each evaluation to the client’s unique history, concerns, and goals. She is also committed to making results understandable and genuinely useful, so clients and families leave the evaluation with a clearer understanding of what is happening and practical next steps.
Education and Clinical Training
Dr. Fitzpatrick earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology from California Baptist University. She completed her predoctoral internship at Intermountain Psychiatry and Counseling, where she conducted comprehensive psychological evaluations across the lifespan.
Her training included assessment of ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, personality functioning, OCD, trauma, depression, anxiety, and other complex diagnostic concerns. She also received specialized training in autism assessment using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2).
Dr. Fitzpatrick’s clinical training has included school-based, community mental health, and outpatient settings. This broad experience gives her a valuable perspective on how psychological and developmental concerns may look different at school, at home, in relationships, and in everyday life.
ADHD and Autism Testing in Salt Lake City
Dr. Fitzpatrick has a particular interest in ADHD and autism evaluations. She enjoys helping children, adolescents, and adults better understand how they think, process information, interact with others, and experience the world around them.
This can be especially helpful when symptoms overlap or the diagnostic picture is complicated. For example, attention difficulties, anxiety, social differences, executive functioning concerns, mood symptoms, and personality characteristics can sometimes look similar on the surface. A comprehensive psychological evaluation allows Dr. Fitzpatrick to examine the full picture rather than focusing on a single symptom or diagnosis.
Her goal is to provide clients and families with answers that make sense in the context of their actual lives.
Areas of Assessment Specialization
Dr. Fitzpatrick provides psychological testing in Salt Lake City for a variety of diagnostic and treatment-planning needs. Her areas of clinical interest include:
- ADHD evaluations
- Autism spectrum disorder evaluations
- Cognitive and intellectual testing
- Personality assessment
- OCD evaluations
- Trauma-related evaluations
- Depression and anxiety evaluations
- Complex diagnostic evaluations
- Psychological testing to support treatment and educational planning
She is particularly passionate about helping clients navigate situations in which the answer has not been obvious. Her evaluations integrate psychological testing, developmental and clinical history, current concerns, and lived experience to help clients and families better understand both strengths and areas of difficulty.
Therapy for Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults
In addition to psychological assessment, Dr. Fitzpatrick provides individual therapy in Salt Lake City for children, adolescents, young adults, and families. She works with concerns including ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety, OCD, personality-related difficulties, grief, and oppositional behavior.
Dr. Fitzpatrick believes therapy is most effective when clients understand not only what they are working on, but why. She explains her clinical thinking along the way and works collaboratively so clients and families can be active participants in treatment.
Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and family systems approaches. Her doctoral dissertation focused on parenting stress, further informing her understanding of family dynamics and the challenges parents and children may experience together.
A Collaborative and Practical Approach
Whether you are seeking ADHD testing, autism testing, comprehensive psychological evaluation, or therapy in Salt Lake City, Dr. Fitzpatrick strives to create an experience that feels collaborative, respectful, and useful.
She understands that seeking psychological testing can come after months or even years of questions, frustration, or uncertainty. Her goal is to help clients understand what the results actually mean for their day-to-day lives and translate those findings into recommendations they can use.
Clients and families can expect an approach that combines careful clinical assessment with warmth, curiosity, and genuine collaboration.
Outside of the Office
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Fitzpatrick enjoys spending time outdoors, crocheting, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
